Panchatantra1..The Brahmin and the Crab

For those who like to read short stories.....Friends, Indian literature is considered to be the richest literaure in the world, but still we keep on reading novels of foreign author(no doubt they have better vocabulary and grammer content, but would hardly reach to the simplicity and moral content of ancient Indian literature). Panchatantra is know as the oldest and simplest book to teach management fundas using animals as objects(a fable u can say), here's a short story from it. And I plan to put a new story from Panchatantra once every week or fortnight.

A brahmin named Brahmadutt lived in the city. One day,he decided to go to another city for some work. His mother asked who was accompanying him.He replied that he was going alone.Brahmadutt's mother advised him to take somebody along,as having a companion is very useful while travelling.
Brahmadutt's mother gave him a crab and said: "This crab will be your companion on the journey".
Brahmadutt proceeded on his journey with the crab, which he kept inside a small camphor box.In the afternoon,he decided to take rest under the shade of a tree.Beign tired he soon fell asleep. While he was sleeping a snake emerged from the hollow of that tree.
The snake was attracted by the smell of the campor box and tried to swallow it.The crab came out from the box and killed the snake.
When Brahmadutt woke up from his sleep, he found a dead snake lying near the camphor box.He realised that the crab had saved his life.

Moral of the story:
1) One should never underestimate anyone's usefulnes.
2).Parents and elders are more experienced and wiser than us.Therefore, almost always, their advice is bound to be useful.
3).Its always better to have a good company when going to dangerous places.
